ERIKA ORDOÑEZ

Laredo, Tx Native Artist. Border City to Mexico. Ordoñez lived for her first 18 years across the border in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas MX where she  received an education in both Mexican and American culture, history and their languages. Graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Art from Texas A&M International University May 2007.

Ordoñez’s passion for color and it’s theory has made painting and color drawing her main means of expression. Although her subject matter has visually changed over the years, the basis of its creation remains the same. Ordoñez calls her artwork a parallel to her life’s journey. Artmaking is an extension of self, a way to express what at the moment flows into creative existence. In her latest series ‘Fixative,’ poems are written and incorporated into the artwork, integrating even more of herself into her work. Her subject matter of choice is self-portraits, flora, Vanitas, birds, and toys.
